We All Bleed Red
Today is election day in the USA. I’m so glad it’s finally over! I’ve never witnessed an election season with so much anger, so much deception, so much manipulation and so much fear. It seems like politics brings out the worst in people, especially online.
It’s been bothering me so much that I wrote a song about it this past weekend…it’s called “We All Bleed Red”. Here are a few of the lyrics:
Instead of attacking each other like a pack of wild dogs, it would be awesome if we could find a way to come together and be a whole nation again after the dust settles in the voting booth. We tend to see everything in the world as black and white…everything is either right or wrong, and everybody is either on the right side or the wrong side. My friends, isn’t life is a lot more complex, nuanced and magnificent than that? Aren’t there a million different facets to what makes us human beings? Some things will always be right or wrong, but most of the time there’s a lot of room in the middle where we can accept each other.
We’re all on the same team. We all bleed red. My hope and prayer is that once we know who the new president is, we can all stop objectifying each other. We can all stop being Democrats and Republicans and Independents and just go back to being Americans….being human beings. Maybe then we really can “make America great again”.
